6 x Saarinen Tulip chair purple designed by Walter Knoll. Six beautiful Tulip chairs designed by Eero Saarinen for Studio Knoll. The Tulip chair was designed in 1957 and made of two parts of fiberglass. The seat is made of cast fiberglass reinforced with a layer of plastic and the base is made of cast aluminum with a Rilsan coating. The advantage of the two separate parts is the flexibility, which makes the chair fully rotatable. Together with the armchairs and tables, also known as the ‘Pedestal Collection’, the chair is an example of modernism from the fifties.
