Odette Barsa was primarily renowned for her exquisite lingerie, produced from the 1930s-1970s, and this vibrant red print ensemble may have been originally intended as a hostess outfit. Today it can make the perfect splash for a summer event at home or away, its tiered sleeves and loose front tie adding a Spanish influence. Remove the bolero to reveal a strappy maxi dress with criss-cross back and diagonal seaming at the bust, the fitted bodice flowing to the gentle folds of the skirt. Both pieces feature a deep V neckline. Unlined, of a slightly textured, but lightweight fabric. Retailed by Saks Fifth Avenue, c.1970s.
