Pair of French walnut bedside tables adorned with fine Louis XV marquetry from the early 19th century. This pair of French ‘tables de chevet’ was created in the early years of the 19th century, at a time when the country revisited the rococo style that marked the reign of King Louis XV as a means of reviving national pride and heritage. Each of these exquisite nightstands features a snaking tray top framed by a three-quarter gallery with fine marquetry. The tables are adorned with three fine tongue-and-groove drawers. Both are decorated with marquetry side posts and brass handles.
The two small tables have a lower shelf marked with marquetry and raised on four tall, slender cabriolet legs, with legs delicately decorated in bronze, typical of the Louis XV period.
The set is delicate and elegant, with a beautiful patina and lines that will add a touch of sophistication to any room, especially a bedroom where they can be used to anchor a bed.
