Vintage Design
We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning pair of late Victorian, fully restored Chesterfield cigar brown leather porter’s armchairs These are a real statement piece and look expensive and important in any setting. They were originally a dark green and have been washed back, hand dyed six times, antiqued, sealed, waxed down and polished, they are the only pair I have ever seen and the colour finish is a one off so there will never be another pair the same These are traditional, canopy top porter’s armchairs, the idea being your “porter” or night watchman could sit in them and keep an eye whilst having the wind kept off his face and a little nap, today they are used as signature armchairs Dimensions Height:- 160cm Width:- 80cm Depth:- 90cm Seat height:- 45cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
