Brenner Couture 1970s unusual knit ensemble consisting of a plaid maxi dress under a forest green jacket. The sleeveless dress features a mandarin collar, deep side slit, and back zipper. Covering the dress is a smoking-style wrap jacket, the underside of its shawl collar in matching plaid, and having patch pockets and a self sash belt. Both pieces are crafted of unlined wool knit. Fresh from an estate.
Brenner Couture was founded by designer Eleanor Brenner and her husband Richard in the late 1960s, providing upscale clothing to boutiques and select department stores; they closed the business in 1979. Previous to Brenner Couture, Eleanor designed for the forward-looking department store Henri Bendel.
Labelled size 12, would fit best contemporary size 6/8.
Dress: B: 35″; H: 37″.
