Vintage Design
An architectural and rigorous square pedestal table or side table, Art-Deco, Modernist, Cubist, Constructivist, interesting structure with 4 solid oak legs arranged diagonally and in “wings” curved at the tops and offset at the corners of the tops in square oak veneer, in the spirit of Charles Dudouyt, to be attributed, France 1930.
The offset of the upper plate creates a beautiful geometric effect and a lightness which contrasts with the solidity of the structure. The assembly of this top is obtained by screwed metal angles, when the lower top is assembled in wood. There is an oak veneer marquetry made up of 4 squares on the top shelf, adding a geometric detail in ornamentation. This pedestal table or side table is simple, sober, austere and refined at the same time. It evokes the radical modernist experiences paradoxically intended for popular diffusion in the 20s and 30s.
