Small Napoleon III period book table in lacquered wood, presenting on its top called ” à cuvette ” motifs of flowers, net and scrolls, as well as a moulding in its circumference. The throat-shaped belt is also highlighted with clear fillets. The lid lifts, revealing on its underside an engraving of a country scene, with a fisherman holding his catch accompanied by two ladies. This table can be locked at will thanks to its original working lock and key. It offers a small interior space in blackened wood, originally dedicated to the storage of sewing utensils. The base consists of four legs called “chapelet” resting on a cut-out element underlined by clear fillets, resting on casters on the ground: this one is joined by a spacer to the same chapelet design.
This small work table, almost two hundred years old, will find its place in various decorations, and will seduce history lovers by its authenticity and its solidity.
