Vintage Design
This Dressing Table is a rare piece and we believe that it was part of furniture especially designed for the American and British market and was showcased in the New York exhibition in 1947. Unfortunately changes in the political situation in Czechoslovakia after 1948 meant that this huge business proposal for the Anglo – American market was never realised. However some of the pieces were made and sold anyway in a limited quantity only.
This piece consists of a rectangular mirror supported by a thick wooden frame on the top and bottom which is elegantly connected to a rectangular cabinet with slick rounded corners.
The cabinet itself has got two storage spaces on the corners and two sliding shelves in the middle. The striking birchwood pattern works nicely with a balanced proportion of the doors and handles, vertical lines decoration together and a black colour glass top.
The round shaped doors with their concealed integrated handles demonstrate the high technical ability and standards of UP Brno at the time.
The Dressing Table is in perfect vintage condition after recent complete refurbishment to its former glory. There is only minimal wear and tear gained over the years. Our experienced craftsman has carried the restoration to the highest standard, using French polishing technique and Shellac varnish to hand finish the entire piece.
